About Spraoi

Tá ‘Spraoi!’ lonnaithe i nGaeltacht Chonamara.

‘Spraoi!’ is based in the Conamara Gaeltacht.

Déanaimid póstaeir iontacha a dhearadh agus a phriondáil do dhaoine atá bainteach leis an nGaeilge a mhúineadh nó a fhoghlaim. Is í Paula Nic Cionnaith an bhean a bhunaigh an comhlacht sa bhliain 1993. Bhí sí ag obair do Chonradh na Gaeilge i nGaillimh ag an am agus bhí sí tinn tuirseach den easpa áiseanna a bhí ann do mhúinteoirí Gaeilge. Mar sin, shocraigh sí ar rud éigin a dhéanamh faoi.

We design and print great products for people involved in teaching and learning Irish. Paula Nic Cionnaith started the company in 1993. She was teaching Irish for Conradh na Gaeilge and was totally fed-up with the lack of teaching resources. So she decided to do something about it.

Rinne sí freastal ar chúrsa chun foghlaim le comhlacht a bhunú. Agus ansin, le cúnamh airgeadais ó Údarás na Gaeltachta agus go leor cúnaimh mhorálta ó Chonradh na Gaeilge, rinne Íte Ní Chionnaith an comhlacht ‘Spraoi!’ a sheoladh go hoifigiúil ag Oireachtas na Gaeilge i nGaillimh sa bhliain 1993.

She did a Start Your Own Business course. Then, with financial help from Údarás na Gaeltachta and loads of moral support from Conradh na Gaeilge the company ‘Spraoi!’ was officially launched by Íte Ní Chionnaith at Oireachtas na Gaeilge in Galway in 1993.

Tar éis di a bheith ag obair mar mhúinteoir Béarla (TEFL), bhí an t-uafás smaointí ag Paula faoi conas teangacha a mhúineadh ar bhealach a bhí spraíúil agus taitneamhach.

After having worked as a TEFL teacher, Paula had loads of ideas of how to teach languages in a fun way.

Anois, tá cáil ar ‘Spraoi!’ mar chomhlacht a chuireann ar fáil póstaeir, cairteanna, leabhair, stiallbhratacha agus fiú maighnéid don chuisneoir uilig den scoth. Agus uilig as Gaeilge.

And now, ‘Spraoi!’ has gained a well deserved reputation for producing fabulous posters, charts, books, bunting and even fridge magnets. All in Irish.
